About Us — Our Story
Handcrafted with Heart, Made in the UK
Welcome to Leaping Water Studios — where every lampshade begins with a love of extraordinary fabric and ends with a piece of lighting that feels truly personal.
The Maker Behind the Studio
I'm Trish and I make every lampshade by hand from my studio in the UK. What started as a passion for beautiful textiles has grown into a small business built around one simple belief: your home deserves something made with care, not mass-produced on a conveyor belt.
The Fabrics We Love
We work with some of the most celebrated fabric designers in the world — William Morris's timeless botanical prints, Tula Pink's bold and joyful patterns, and Kaffe Fassett's rich, painterly designs. Each fabric is chosen because it does something extraordinary when light passes through it, bringing warmth and colour into a room in a way that plain shades simply can't.
How Each Lampshade is Made
Every shade is cut, shaped, and finished by hand in our UK studio. We use traditional lampshade-making techniques — carefully tensioning fabric over frames, hand-finishing edges, and checking every seam — because shortcuts show, and we're not interested in shortcuts.
No two lampshades are ever quite identical. The nature of working with patterned fabric means each piece is placed and cut individually, so yours will be uniquely yours.
Why It Matters
When you buy from Leaping Water Studios, you're not buying from a warehouse. You're buying something made specifically for you, by a person who genuinely cares how it looks in your home. We hope it brings you as much joy as it brought us to make it.
Thank you for supporting handmade.
